Theology Is Incompatible with Kingdom Identity

“Stop teaching theology and spend that time promoting intimacy”

I’ve taken the liberty to read up on the early developments of Christianity.  For those of you that have followed my voice in the kingdom you know that I have determined that Christianity is not God’s plan for the kingdom, but rather, it is a creation of men who themselves did not know their identity in the kingdom.  Therefore, they accepted an identity that was not God’s identity of them.  With that being the case, they went about establishing an identity solely based on their interpretation of the scriptures.  Let me be clear, it is impossible to know the Godhead or your identity in the kingdom simply by reading and interpreting the scriptures.  Furthermore, the kingdom is not set up for theological study.  For, theology is only capable of studying what was, and the kingdom of God is not about what was, but rather, what is and what is to come. 

It is important that you (the reader) recognize that trying to understand God or your identity by interpreting the scriptures is akin to trying to understand who a person is by examining an aged photograph from their youth.  The identity that Christianity endeavors to perpetuate, is an identity that is packed with the poor interpretations by the men that have been given the moniker of “Church Fathers”!  These were not the apostles of scripture, but these were men who attempted to preserve and interpret what the apostles wrote.  Starting as early as 100 CE with Justin Martyr even into the 20^th century with theologians such as Karl Barth and Dietrich Bonhoffer.  For almost 2000 years theology has tried to tell us that reading and understanding the Bible is the way to promote Christianity.  After some contemplation, I realized there is something to be understood from this approach.  Theology is compatible with Christianity because Christianity is the creation of men and Christianity is limited in what it is allowed to believe.  The beliefs of Christianity are governed by theology.  Conversely, the beliefs of the Kingdom of Heaven are governed by the voice of God and the Kingdom of Heaven possesses the evolving nature of the persons of the Godhead.  Because the kingdom evolves, the explanation for what the kingdom is can only be revealed by what the Godhead is saying about it.  By this, it is evident that looking back into scripture through the efforts of theology only reveals what was.  

The following are some of the interpretations the church father’s put forth as a result of their interpretations.  Many of you who will read this will have no idea who the people that I am about to mention are.  But rest assured, these men are largely responsible for what Christianity has evolved into today.  

Justin Martyr (100-165 CE) for example believed and taught that forgiveness can only be had with fasting.  He also believed that Satan only sinned after Jesus came to earth.  Tertullian (160-225 CE) believed that forgiveness is all but impossible, thus we are all sinners forever in search of forgiveness.  He promoted many anti sex arguments (even sex within marriage) as well as promoting many misogynistic views of women.  Another church father is a man named Origen of Alexandria (185254 CE).  He believed and taught the philosophy of universalism this means that everyone gets saved though Jesus in the end whether they believe on him or not.  Another teacher of universalism was Gregory of Nazianzus (329-390 CE).  He also is responsible for promoting and establishing the practice of recognizing church officials.  Lastly but certainly not the last church father is Augustine of Hippo (354430CE) who believed that certain parts of the Bible should be hidden from nonleaders.  He also taught that infants who are not baptized, automatically go to hell.  If you ever wonder where the belief in purgatory came from you need look no further.  Augustine taught that purgatorial fires can cleanse a soul after death.  So, when you look at these men, and the things they taught, one must wonder if they were really that far off, or how is it that the modern church has wondered so far from what these men taught and believed.  

For those in the church and even many who are claiming kingdom identity yet maintaining an allegiance to the church system founded by the church fathers, who believe they are interpreting the scriptures independently of the influence of these men and other like them, these individuals are choosing to ignore the reality of the religion they practice.  One of the basic tenets of life is to be true to yourself, to be honest about what you choose to believe.  The scriptures are no exception.  It is time that those of us who have been raised in the Christian tradition be honest with ourselves about the scriptures we read.  We can no longer afford to simply believe what we are told about the scriptures you are reading.  We must begin to question whether the things we have been told are so.  By this I mean, we are often told what a particular passage of scripture means thus!  Yet many times under intense scrutiny it becomes obviously clear that what we have been told is contrary to what is actually written.  Theologians have made lifetime careers doing this and the church fathers are not exception.  The heartbeat of theology is interpretation of the content of scripture.  We have allowed the practice of scriptural interpretation to govern our entire walk of faith and our intimacy with the Godhead.  This approach to a relationship with our Father in heaven will always arrive at the unproductive destination of religious ritualism.  A religious relationship will never produce the true identity of an heir of the kingdom.  The only option to unveil one’s true identity is to develop a level of intimacy that has nothing to do with one’s interpretation of what church fathers have to say neither what first century apostles wrote.  One must be solely focused on their intimacy with Holy Spirit.  Without this single-minded focus, the best to be hoped for is an identity that has little to do with what the kingdom has for them.  As there are many members of the kingdom and all are meticulously placed into position by the Father, each member must understand who they.  They must also understand that this identity is inseparably tied to what they have been positioned and assigned to do.  There is NO ONE in the kingdom that can answer the question of another’s identity; that is solely the domain of Holy Spirit.
